On September 30, the Armenian Conference Interpreters Association hosted an exclusive event at the Aram Khachaturian House-Museum in Yerevan to celebrate International Translation Day.

The invitation-only event featured a panel discussion titled “The Polyphony of Translation: Exploring the Interpreter’s Role.” ACIA members and conference interpreters Khachatur Adumyan, Kristine Soghikyan, Vladimir Ter-Ghazaryan, and Fenya Yepremyan joined the panel discussion. They explored the complex and intriguing aspects of interpretation, including strategies for managing interpreter emotions in challenging situations, upholding ethical standards, and tackling industry-specific challenges.

ACIA Secretary General Kristine Soghikyan noted: “Since its inception, the Association has aimed to promote interpretation as a profession and establish professional standards, while strengthening ethics and integrity and ensuring interpreters’ welfare and adherence to professional benchmarks.”

The event brought together partners from public, private, and civil society sectors, international organizations, and the financial-banking industry. Guests enjoyed special gifts, while professional networking over wine provided further opportunities for meaningful dialogue between conference interpreters and stakeholders.

The organizers emphasized the significance of the venue choice. The Aram Khachaturian House-Museum was selected with multiple objectives: to support the preservation and development of this cultural institution, to promote Armenian creative thought, and to highlight the connection between music and interpretation, among others.

The Armenian Conference Interpreters Association, founded in 2007, currently unites over 20 top-notch conference interpreters.
